Yoga For Healing – A Weekly Flow & Restore Class

Yoga for Healing, offered in collaboration with Empty Arms Vermont, is designed for anyone grieving pregnancy or infant loss, or struggling with trying to conceive. Empty Arms is a local non profit that strives to build community & provide resources to those journeying down the road of grief.

Yoga for Healing will incorporate some gentle movements, breath exercises, mediation and relaxation to help release tension, calm the nervous system and connect to our breath. Beyond providing an outlet to release grief, taking a yoga class specifically for healing is a beautiful way to build community by connecting with others who are experiencing similar emotions and situations.

This class is an all-levels yoga class – beginners are welcome! You will not be asked to share your story, so you can feel safe that you can come and take whatever you need while feeling that your privacy is being honored.

If you are joining virtually, it will help to have some props available. Yoga blocks, bolsters, blankets and straps are recommended. If you do not have these props, you can find alternatives around your house such as a stack of books, boxes, a firm pillow or couch cushion, or any blanket or towel, bathrobe time, scarf or belt are some examples.

We send out the class recordings to all who are registered (recordings will be live for 48 hours.) This extra step is to allow those who would like to participate but either cannot make the time or would prefer privacy/not being a part of the live class.

MONDAYS, 4:30-5:30 pm at our 696 Pine Street location or on Zoom, eastern time.

About Kendra Greene, Instructor

Kendra was first inspired to create a safe yoga space for those suffering pregnancy loss after experiencing her own miscarriage in 2021 while in the midst of completing her yoga teacher training.  Her yoga & meditation practice proved to be instrumental in healing from her pregnancy loss. She spent the next several months focusing on her own fertility & found that struggling to conceive can feel like a loss with each month that passes without a positive pregnancy test & was a lonely journey.  In July 2022 her second son Noah was born but died during childbirth due to unforeseen complications. This heartbreak is what brought her to Empty Arms. Through Empty Arms, she started meeting with other parents that also experienced baby loss and has found great support and friendships from this community.  Throughout her grief and healing process, yoga and meditation have been a constant outlet and place of refuge.  As a way to honor Noah & share her healing journey, Kendra aims to connect both the pregnancy and infant loss community with her passion of teaching yoga and meditation.

Kendra completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training through Sangha Studio in June 2021 as a way to deepen her mind-body connection both on and off her yoga mat.  She played team sports growing up and sought her first yoga class after college as a way to get a physical workout in a group community setting.  At first she was drawn into the practice as a way to challenge her athleticism and build heat.  Over the course of the last few years, she has found more value in the slower yoga practices and meditation.  In Kendra’s classes you can expect a fun sequence of movement as well as stillness, meditation and pranayama.
